There are quite a few environments you visit in Metroid Prime. There are places of desert, fire, snow, Phazon, and the tropical-like area. There are dozens of power-ups to find and enemies to defeat. The vivid landscapes are the best ever. If there is a vacation place you want to go that looked like Earth with more action and other things, then start playing this game.

Tallon Overworld This is the beautiful area where you land. It can sometimes be hard to believe from the lanscapes and the water effects of how evil could be in this land. But there is - you must travel through this place to find information about the Artifacts and openings to other areas. There are a few power-ups here, but less than at the other levels. Chozo Ruins This area has a main environment of sand and desert. Although there are many areas of metal-like material, that is everywhere and you fight main battles on the desert and in green poison water. You do turn the water back to normal, after beating Flaandra, but that is closer to going to the next level. You get quite a few power-ups here, including your Power Suit coming back. Nearly all of the Morph Ball items are here, and etcetera. This level is where the stupid scarabs actually hurt you a lot instead of just half a point. Magmoor Caverns Your second destination is at Magmoor Caverns. This place is full of magma (hence the name "Magmoor") and features several new creatures, and sooner or later the Phazon Beam when you get the Grappling Beam back. Most places here are not that hard, unless you fall in the magma or go into this place without the Power Suit. That doesn't include you, does it? The main thing that hurt me in this area was falling in the magma, which happened a lot. The Space Jump Boots really help in this area, which you get after the Boost Ball in the Tallon Overworld.

Phendrana Drifts
This icy world is home to the Sheegoths, evil creatures with ice on their backs to protect them. When I put in the Bosses and Mini-Bosses page you can read on when and how to defeat them. The water here is not ice, although it seems like it is. This place is huge, and there are also many labs and stuff like that you can go through and attack here.
Phazon Mines
Instead of fire like Magmoor, Phazon Mines has phazon as water (hence that ever-telling name). There are many things you can do to prevent that, such as grappling around once you have the beam. This site is home to a lot of Metroids ready to attack, which are pretty easy with Missiles or Charged Beam Blasts.
The Impact Crater
Though not very large, this is one of the most revelant places in the game. You unlock it after collectin all of the artifacts and defeating Meta-Ridley. This is the area where you first and only see Fission Metroids. Once you would have killed an original Metroid, these guys will split into two and you can only kill them with the same beam color they are. It is also home to the Metroid Prime and its core. Be prepared, the first one is a lot harder than the second and will leave you with little energy to battle the second.
